how about a gun that just freezes them. doesn't kill them, doesn't harm them, but you can shoot other weapons at them while theyre frozen and then kill them.

Maybe a beam that 'reflects' off certain materials and can go through clear objects like glass, force fields, it would be like a 'metal' beam. I would call it the Flash Beam.
