Critical hits were introduced alot longer before Pokemon used them.

Should be interesting.

Based on the list provided, I'm not particularly excited. Sprinting and critical hits sound interesting, but the rest is not exactly game changing. Unless the villages have some real point to them, they'll be ignored just like the Nether was.

Well, there are supposed to be 37 other features, so I'll wait before judging.

What about creative mode? I think it's supposed to be a mode like Minecraft classic in Beta with unlimited blocks and such.

Isn't he splitting it into two updates?
I'd rather wait for one large update, rather then two updates.

Edited my first post to include the download link for the 1.8 pre release version.

Guys, it's really worth it although it's not yet finished. There are ravines, NPC villages and Endermen everywhere.

It's beautiful ;____;

Haven't bothered yet because I still need to sort everything out with my server. Waiting for the actual release and Craftbukkit RB before I do anything.

Some really nice features (I love the new lighting system, for example) but, again, not exactly game-changing. You'll explore the new features for a few hours (or a few days, in some cases), and then you'll go back to playing exactly like you used to. The so called "Adventure Update" doesn't really introduce many adventures.

Some neat changes overall, but I'm still waiting for the change that makes it worth investing more time into the game.

Well I personally think Endermen are a tad disappointing. The real scary mob is undoubtedly the Silverfish although I don't know if they've been implemented yet. I spawned some on Jolt's server and it looks as if they hide in something that looks like stone blocks but appear once you destroy said blocks. Creepy as hell.

I <3 Melons, they're easy to farm, a bit rare to get some actual seeds though :/

NPC villages are so far my favorite feature(Even though there aren't any NPC's yet.) I found a village in a desert on Blocktopia's test server. It was fun for the short while that it lasted and Jolt and I made the village look awesome and surrounded it with cacti. By the time that the test server was taken away 3 more people had joined our village named Cactopia.

I never realized how slow I was until sprinting came out. It also gives me the opportunity to critical hit mobs which is pretty damn awesome. You can also now use your sword to block attacks(a feature that seems not many people know about) The new bow animation and critical hit shot is awesome, it now only takes two shots from a bow to kill a creeper. This does make it a tad too easy though :/

Abandoned mines are pretty damn cool as well. Poison spiders are a cool new addition and perhaps a bit too powerful. I almost died twice while stumbling upon a poisonous spider spawner. :/

Ravines are pretty awesome and gets you materials like iron fast but it's somewhat dangerous to descend or explore at night.

Furthermore, little things like edible beef and chicken is what makes the update great and perhaps the best update so far. Chests also have a new model and opens up when in use like a real chest. Giant mushrooms aren't found in the wild yet but can be obtained by using bonemeal on a mushroom. This spawns a giant mushroom which drops more mushrooms when destroyed. There are also supposed to be strongholds but I've yet to see them :/

My only criticism so far is exp orbs. To me, they are useless and always will be. They're extremely buggy and they serve no purpose and I hope Notch gets rid of them.

If this doesn't get you back into Minecraft, nothing will.

It's quite awesome. I feel like I'm actually trying to survive.
I can't wait for NPC's. And experience to actually be put to use.

If anything, I'd say Experience Points are the most interesting part of this update. They're the only feature that might actually change the way you play the game, and give you an incentive to keep playing after you've found your place in the world.

If you've been playing the game for long enough to have created a fairly decent city/stronghold from scratch several times, what does this change? New mob? New blocks? Eh, you'll explore everything within a couple hours and then you go back to doing whatever you were doing before. Any player with a decent knowledge of the game can find diamonds and create a base in one or two days. What then? Repeat? Again, and again, and again, until you're bored.

Meeeeeh. I don't know, perhaps I've been in this for too long.

Experience points are ****. They're buggy and serve no purpose.

Vasco, I was bored with Minecraft too until 1.8 came out and I haven't stopped playing since <3

Oh yeah and there's creative mode but I never use it :L

Well Notch plans on using them to buy things likely, he said.
Such as higher jump, faster run, etc.

HOWEVER. I do believe losing all your EXP. from being killed is somewhat jipped.
I can take that, and I can see the challenge in that. Makes dying more, deadly?

All the orbs dropping though cause such horrible lag. I can't even play my server anymore due to my friend being killed from a Creeper. He needs to condense them or something.

Also, I swear he increased the farm mobs.

Also, pig snouts. <3
