Production?

So how long do you think HeartGold & SoulSilver have been in production? A lot of people say since FR/LG came out.

I think they might've started on it around the time of FR/LG, but they also started on D/P, but the new graphics & features held them back so they had to redo it. I dunno, it's just the feelin' I get from it.

I doubt they were in production around the time FR/LG were released, unless we're talking about very early prototype versions. However, I think creating a new generation was on GameFreak's minds at the time. The Kanto games had to sit through another two generations before they were remade, and it's likely that they thought remakes of the Johto generation would have been too soon if they were featured in the third gen period (especially when you consider the probability that the Kanto part of the games would have been almost identical to FR/LG, but exploring the region in a different order).

I'm going to say that they began production after D/P. Remakes were probably considered earlier on, but it's unlikely production was.

There were many false rumors about Johto remakes around the release of Diamond and Pearl, so maybe someone leaked that they were planning on making a remake to someone and it got passed around to the point where someone started spreading false rumors...? [/finally ends sentence]

I doubt it. People just created those rumours to try and coerce Nintendo into doing so. It obviously didn't work at the time.

To coerce Nintendo into creating it? If it's a false rumor, then no one's going to be mad at Nintendo--no one rational, anyway. I doubt that was the case.

What I mean is that they created the false rumour in the hope that Nintendo would actually start the production far sooner than they intended.

But why would Nintendo cave to something like that? Because their fans want it? Hell no, they've already proven they don't care what we think.

Exactly. But not all fans know that, or they are too stupid to notice. Or maybe they just choose to ignore fact and try anyway.

I'm going with them having started development around the same time as, probably just after, the release of D/P.

When Platinum was announced.

I reckon they started production a little while after D/P were released.

I did hear a rumor that Heartgold was going to be released a couple days after Platinum came out. I seriously doubt that was a lie though...

Judging by how good the graphics look, it must of been produced around the time D/P were released. It looks AWESOME!

hmm i think halfway between the release of D/P and Pt.That way their would basically be almost finished and can get to work on HG/SS

I HEARD that they were makin it around 2008 and then they evenutally gave up.
