Since the previous Red Gyarados topic was deleted for no good reason, I'm going to start another one as this topic provides valid and interesting discussion.

Note, Ryuujin, that I'm not starting this thread to antagonise you.

Okay, concerning the Red Gyarados, I've been thinking of adding it to my team. However, I'd rather get a regular one much earlier, preferably evolved as it adds Magikarp to the PokeDex (not that I ever complete them) and I like evolving pokemon. I usually trade Magikarp/Gyarados over from another game so that it doesn't grow so damn slowly, though, so I could get the Red Gyarados earlier.

Does the Gyarados have a predetermined nature or is it random? How about IVs? As long as it has at least a 28 IV in attack and an adamant nature, I'll use it.

I'd imagine it would be just like any other wild pokemon - complete random chance of anything of the sort.

Would be nice if it had an Adamant nature, though. Jolly wouldn't be too bad, either. As long as the nature is contributing to Gyarados' offensive capabilities and taking out of Special Attack, it's good.

I'll probably add it to my team as long as it isn't too weak compared to my other Pokemon. I hope it has a nature that ups it's Attack stats, or one that is neutral.

I saved right in front of it earlier, I'm capturing it and I'm putting it in my team, it'll be a lot better than Sudowoodo.

I remember trying to use Sudowoodo. I think it was solely due to the fact that it was one of the few pokemon that learnt Rock Slide via level. Not that it's a bad pokemon, it's just the sort that you get bored of.

Gyarados, on the other hand, is great fun to use, more so in 4th Gen.

Yeah, I tried using Sudowoodo from capturing it until I got the Red Gyrados, in total I used Sudowoodo about 7 times, I only used it as cannon fodder in Cianwood gym and to kill stuff in a hurry if it was a normal or flying type.

It was one of those pokemon that could have done with an evolution in 4th Gen, not a pre-evolution.

Yeah, I'll agree with you, or at least an evolution to go with it as well, Bonsly was ok, but I only ever caught one in Platinum and Pearl to get Sudowoodo in my pokedex, it's a pretty mehish pokemon now, where I thought it was quite good back in the original G/S/C.

I would like to see a evolution to Sudowoodo as well.

Now, about the Gyrados, as long as it has some kind of Nature that lowers SP. Attack, I"m good, but I really want Jolly out of the possible natures.
