Zapdos-for ice-type pokemon
lapras or blastoise with ice beam or any strong water pokemon with icebeam!-for lance's dragon type
gengar or a psychic pokemon(like mewtwo or alakazam)with shadow ball-to deal with Agatha and bruno...
for gary- focus with your starter. For example-
IF YOU CHOSE-squirtle as your starter teach it ice beam to finish of venusaurr
(TM13-buy in celadon game corner)
IF YOU CHOSE-charmander as your starter teach it fly( i mean your charlizard)

And Blastoise is a failure. Anyone who started with him deserves to be groinkicked by Gary.
Also, Fly is a retarded attack. Don't use it except on an HM Slave (Tropius is great for it).
Oh wait, there's more...Don't put Shadow Ball on Alakazam in LeafGreen. With his crummy offensive stats, it'll barely do anything to a Gengar.

I just felt that the people who actually have trouble defeating the Elite Four for some bizarre, other-worldly reason should know that the majority of those suggestions are bad.
