Does anyone out there know how to get, say a Squirtle and a Bulbasaur if you started with a Charmander that doesn't involve trading?

You can trade with other people or use a gameshark.

its impossible to do this without trading unless you use gameshark. however, you can get them without trading on pokemon yellow.
