How can you get a Charizard? He's not a starter. is an evolved form, of a starter.

Bulbasaur. He's the best in the old games. Besides, if you choose Charmander it's near impossible to beat the first gym. Pity though. He's better than Squirtle.

What!? I can beat Brock and Misty with just charmander. The only thing that's "near impossible" in this game is beating the elite four with one lv. 50 pokemon.
Are you satisfied? Or do I have to beat the c*** outta you too?

It is easier at first, but later Charmander gets better as a starter.

once you clear the first 2 gyms with charmander its starts getting easier
Thats why i picked him
