what exactly does this thing do? i heard if a pokemon holds it it gets stronger than nromal but i cant see any difference

well, i think that it is supposed to make your pokemon grow faster, im not sure.

It doubles EV's in battle. So say a pokemon holding a Macho Brace beats a Zubat it gains 2 Speed EV's instead of 1

gotcha. but does it really make that big of a difference in how many points each stat goes up?

YES. if stats are stronger your pokemon is stronger.

Imaloony, that was slightly obvious.
MMLR, If you max out the EV's (252). That stat on a pokemon can go a significant amount. And the Macho brace just half's the time needed to maxc out a stat
