Both are good but you can teach typhlosion thunder punch to take down just about any water pokemon i would put my lvl 100 typhlosion against lvl 100 feraligater anytime. But i also like chikorita because it makes the game more of a challange

water pokemon is the best i chose water pokemon all the time and have beat loads of pokemon games like all the fire red leaf green silver emrald
platnum diomond and last but not least ruby i have not played yellow

I'm sorry to tell you all this but to me Chimchar kicks all the other starters butts (Also Chikorita sucks)

I think tododile is the best because it can learn ice fang which can counter its weakness, chikorita or any grass type.
