Yeah I had to use a walkthrough throughout any Zelda game except the only things I used the walkthrough for was, finding the Hourglass symbol for the red door (I was lazy at that time and had about 1 minute left from the hourglass), the Triforce Symbol on how to draw it because I was stuffed (the walkthrough I had also went through how to draw the symbols), Trading sequence and Gem Locations.
I was replaying Oracle of Ages some day ago and in particular, I usually use the walkthrough for the 7th dungeon (You know the fish), because it has the Increase and Decrease water level. I ended up beating the 7th dungeon on my own after realising that after you push the 3rd Water level button which raises the water to two levels, you can't decrease the water. After you had pushed the 3rd button, you can either advanced to the boss or if you had missed anything and you need to press the decrease button, than your stuffed and need to restart game. So some things like doing it on your, if you have beaten the game once even with a walkthrough, can sometimes understand whats happening in the game just like how I understood the 7th dungeon in Oracle of Ages.
