Zach wait a good ten minutes before even moving. He breathed deep.

"Let's do this."

He inserted his skinny drill finger cleanly and precise. He reached the nerve center and split the finger into two prongs, connecting with the nerve system. He felt the electricity flow. He guided it into the storage chamber of the machine.
"Okay, with her knocked out her function slowed some, but I'm diverting any extra into the machine. Once normalcy is achieved I'll drop it more. Then we'll go back, but increments at a controlled rate so respond nicely. When we get to that point you'll need to turn it up every six minutes until I say stop. After that, we hope."

A little bit later, Zach had her dropped to minium function.

"Ok. Now!."

*Following Zach's instructions, Garm increased the flow at the specified amount*
G: Incrementing flow, first six minutes have begun.
*Garm has a clock set up that he made as soon as Zach told him about the 6 minute rule*
G: How many times are we going to do this?
*Garm wants to start a count down in his head, so that they don't accidently over do it*

"Normally It be simply 18 minutes. But with her, it's going to be 36. Or if her mind and body decide, less. Just be prepared to stop on a dime."

Zach focused and displaced the electricity signals evenly, making sure the body accepted each signal correctly before moving on.

This has to be perfect. He thought to himself.

*Garm is tensed to stop at a moment's notice*
G: Understood. 3 minutes to the next charge.
*Garm is keeping an accurate count of what is going on*
G: A change to the amount of time, just say the number of minutes.
*Garm is ready to let the next charge in, but he waits for either the timer to run down, or further instructions*

The clocked ticked. The worked diligently. Zach had taken to softly chanting each part he sent a signal to, working hard to not make a mistake. They were at the 18 minute mark.

"Normal function attained. Motor function, limb control all that jazz. Moving on to higher function in one minute. Up the power by five percent each time unless I say otherwise."

So good so far Zach thought.

*Garm nods, continuing the clock as instructed, not getting too comfortable or overconfident, staying alert and focused*
G: Understood. Clock is continuing.
*Garm is forcing himself not to give in to relief that it is half-way done*
G: Well, let me know if you have any further instructions.
*He listens carefully for any change in instructions*

Zach waited as the first charged arrived. Good, now the best way to disperse it. He chose her motor functions, her basic abilities to move,grasp think and began to boost them, bit by bit. This couldn't be over done, or it was back to square one, and that was bad out here. He closed his eyes and felt each charge move with his will. Lelia mind activity was beginning to go faster but it wasn't out of control yet.

"Hang in there Lelia we're almost done." Even though he hadn't been at this long, the stress on his body was taxing. It was taking every bit of focus and concentration he had. Sweat was forming on his brow.

*Garm continued his countdown, waiting to deliver the next charge.*
G: You okay, Zach?
*He has noticed the strain this has placed on the doctor, and he hopes he won't pass out on him*
G: You look a bit tired.
*Garm is far more worried than he cares to show. Lelia has been like a sister to him, and he doesn't want to lose that.*

He breathed. "I'll be plenty fine until the end of this." He counted to 180 and the next charge arrived. He pumped it to optic nerves and heart system. He evenly dispersed the rest and waited. Her mind started to speed.

"Crap." Zach intercepted the flow and send each signal else where. It was difficult to keep up since he couldn't just stop and bring back the excess like that. Vegetables who are friends hurt the worse.

Zach talked as he kept transferring.

"Set the machine to low! We can't afford to overload her system now." Twenty-Nine Minutes up.

*Garm set the system to low as quickly as he could*
G: Its on low.
*Garm waits with baited breath for Zach's next words.*
G: This is not good. Not good.
*Garm is the very picture of focus, but underneath it all, he is afraid he is about to lose someone else.*

Think...think...think...THINK!! You idiot. You know how to do this. Dad, what would you do?

Zach flashed back to earlier days.
"Dad? why do you teach me all this stuff? It's not like I'm old enough to work as doctor." Zach asked as he assisted his dad. His father did pro bono work sometimes. He was documenting, two cases away from having his new technique become the latest thing. He was working on a Sky diver who hadn't the greatest of luck.
"Well why not learn from the best?" Zach's father smiled. "Besides, the more impressive you are, the less you school you need. Pressure to low! Were giving him to much juice."

Zach did. "Why not just shut it down?"

His Father shook his head. "A massive drop like that? The body will go into shock. It will die 90 percent of the time."
The robotic assist arm was using whirred.
"Oh." was all Zach could say.

"Don't feel bad. Remember, your always in control of the flow. You just have to move it."

The sound system in the room played the orchestra crescendo louldly, and it wasn't just a rogue volume burst.

"There. Normal healthy function established. Sew up him Zach and watch his vitals. Study until he wakes up."

"Yeah dad." Sigh, though its going to be forever until I use this, he thought to himself.....

Zach thought."....Transfer.....I got it! Though this isn't going to be pretty. Good thing I'm grounded."

He relaxed and directed the flow on him, top to bottom to top, a neat circuit. He felt the energy move his body into over time.

"Just a little more....Function Acheived! Cut the juice!"

He closed the incision in a swift motion, his mechanical arm moving rapidly. He unhooked himself and forced the energy down his prosthetic. It fizzled a second, and flopped randomly every few minutes.

"I think I frayed the nerve." Zach said panting. He on his back with his eyes clossd, taking in what just happened.

"Thanks...Dad."

*Garm cut the power once Zach had said to do so*
G: Zach? Did it work?
*Garm looks the prosthetic over quickly*
G: You mean your nerve or hers?
*He is certain he can fix the prosthetic if anything is wrong with it, and feels it is the least he can do.*

"No, she's fine. Just let her sleep for a couple of hours. Ugh."

He shook his head, his vision clearing, though he was still groggy. His arm flopped again.

"No, I'm pretty sure I fried a few nerve endings. Owwwww."

G: Want me to fix that for you? I'll be quite able to finish it myself.
*Garm is looking between the arm and Zach's face*
G: I am one of the foremost experts on this sort of thing.
*He had a much worse case once, with both legs, an arm, and an eye. Wierdest case he ever had.*
G: I've had a lot of experience with nerve endings.

"Well, I guess it can't hurt. I usualy don't have to force power like that through it, I usually just store it in the circuit in itself."

Zach layed up against a rock and relaxed. He pushed on certain spots on the arm and it expanded to about 2.5ft by 5ft. There was a lot tech in it.

"If you could upgrade it's electrical capacity and strength while your at it that would be awesome.

*After poking around for a few moments, Garm begins to rumage around in his toolbag.*
G: Where is it? I know it's in here...
*Garm sighes, taking a break from the frantic search*
G: Sorry, be a little bit longer. I gotta find this one tool...
*Garm searches in the bag's many pockets and then pulls out a rather scary looking one with a look of triumph on his face*

*lelia starts waking up a bit*
L: woah..where am i..? what happend?
*she seems very out of it, more so then normal*
L: am i going to be okay?
*she is really worried as she sees zach and garm*
L: is zach going to be okay?

G: You're fine Lelia...she is fine right, Zach?
*Garm looks up from his work for a second, the scary looking impliment near where the prosthetic meets the nerve endings*
G: Zach'll be fine too, Lel, soon as I'm done fixing this.
*Garm puts on a welding mask and gets to work, using the scary tool to restore the nerves to their natural function*
G: Okay, now for those upgrades you asked for.
*He pulls out some hydrolic parts and a strange looking battery*

*lelia looks worried*
L: did i do that to him while he was helping me..?
*she looks at it, not attempting to get up*
L: whats wrong with him anyways?
*she figures she may have to stay quiet so garm could concentrate*

G: You did nothing Lelia. A circuit overloaded the nerve connection between the prosthetic and him.
*He takes out the old electric storage unit, putting in the wierd looking battery and securing it*
G: There we go, you can now hold, lets see...
*Holding the old unit up to the sunlight, he nods a bit, mostly to himself*
G: I'd say about two to three times the energy.
*He then sets about finding the hydrolics unit he spotted in the arm earlier*
