steelersrock01 said:Yeah I'm going to start visiting places shortly. I really don't want to go much more than 2 hours away from my home, so my options are fairly limited. Still some good schools around me though: Rutgers/Rider/Stockton/Rowan/Princeton/TCNJ

I only want to go to one college... The University of Iowa. It's the best University!

That ain't me. It's not that I don't like my home life, I just want to get out and experience stuff.

I'd still live on campus and everything, I'd just like the ability to drive home for a weekend every few months.

The best thing about them recently is that they beat Michigan.

Lol, I did horrible on my ACTs.

Also, depending on where you live usually differs what test you take.

There's no rule against it, you can take them anywhere. Northern states for the most part prefer the ACTs over the SATs, while Southern states yadda blah yep over ACTs.

I took the PSAT a few weeks ago. Last year I got a 1930, hoping to get Merit even though I know I won't. Taking the SAT this December, and ACT some time later. Depending on my score I'll take my second SAT in May.

Since I've never seen anyone talking about scoring more than 2000 points on the SAT, what would you guise consider a decent score?

I made over a 2000 on the 2400 scale. But colleges really only look at two of the three sections, so normally people base it on the 1600 scale.

A good solid score is probably 1200.

For a second I thought your previous score was out of 2400. Some kid in my area made a perfect score.

Reading comprehension, writing and maths? What an awfully limited test.

American education is weird. Don't you have subject-specific exams? Or do universities just not look at them in favour of this SAT thing?

Yeah, the ACT. And you can also add on subject sections to the SAT, but colleges don't look at them.

The SAT isn't really about how well you can write or read, but take data and analyze it. So yeah, reading, but at the same time, it's not REALLY about the reading.

The math is a joke, though.

I don't really get why colleges evaluate you on these scores. One test isn't going to show you how smart someone is or could become.
