Filming has begun for the new Tomb Raider movie which is scheduled to be released in 2018. The actress playing the iconic role is Alicia Vikander, a Swedish actress and former dancer. The only movie I have seen her in is 'A Man from Uncle', she looks like she'll make a good Lara Croft.

That might be good actually. The recent tomb raider games have done the batman thing and rebooted the games as darker and grittier. If they leave out some of the cheesier humour it could be very watchable.

I think you're right Test User, I'm reading good things about the movie. Casting a virtually unknown actor as the lead may do the film a favor. I was not a fan of those terrible Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies of the 90's, they did nothing for the franchise.

Lol, I didn't know they had made that many Tomb Raider movies, I thought it was just the two: 'Tomb Raider' and the sequel 'Cradle of Life', both starring Angelina Jolie. Who is the actress in the other 4 or 5 movies, they must have been really bad and direct to DVD because I have no recollection of them at all.

To be honest I always throught Tomb Raider was just a female copy of Indianna Jones. The two horrible movies starring Angelina Jolie didn't help change my perception of the movie. When the new Tomb Raider movie is released I'm going to give it a clean slate and forget about anything I've seen previously.

Swedish accent won't be any good for the Tomb Raider movie, she needs to work on getting an upper class British accent otherwise its not Lara Croft as she is the London-born daughter of Lord Henshingly Croft.

No photos of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie have been released yet but if they make her look like the girl in the photo below the film will be a huge success.

All I know is if Lara Croft looks like that in the new Tomb Raider movie I'll make a point of going to the cinema to see it as soon as the movie is released.
