I completely agree. When I was only a few years old, I could not even complete Red and Blue. I literally did not finish Kanto until FireRed came around.

I almost do not have to think with the new Pokemon games. lol

Oh, I don't think I ever beat Red/Blue at all either. When I was quite a bit older I did beat Yellow but by then FR/LG had come out and those will always be the definitive Kanto games for me.

Even the DS games treated you like you weren't a complete idiot. It's these newest games that are real bad with it. They give you a marker telling you exactly where to go and what to do.

Yeah, the newer Pokemon Games clearly are more focused for the younger fans. But I get it, you don't want to turn them away and the older players will usually just deal with it anyway.

They've got a pretty captive audience. There are other monster catching games like temTem or Nexomon or even Digimon, but none of them are Pokemon.

There is a remaster of the old Monster Rancher games coming out if you've ever heard of them. They were kinda like Pokemon, but to find monsters you would insert DVDs and CDs into your console, and every disc generated a different monster. Kinda cool. With this remaster they're gonna have some kind of online database which isn't as charming but maybe still fun.

Yeah, I never owned it myself but played it a few times at a friends. Really interesting concept. Not so much of a battler like Pokemon, more like a simulation game where you raise and take care of the monsters.

Now it sounds a little boring. XD

You do still battle but it isn't completely focused on the battles like Pokemon.

I just beat the Snowpoint Gym, giving me 7 badges. Team is Torterra, Porygon2, Altaria, Rhyperior, Alakazam, Bibarrel for HMs. Still waiting to encounter that Sealeo line.

You were right about Ice types being a weakness, I definitely had the hardest time so far with this gym. But Rhyperior with Hammer Arm and Porygon 2 with Signal Beam carried pretty hard, helped out by the AI not really using many ice type moves and opting for status moves when a second attack from me KOs them.

I had Torterra, Staraptor, Garchomp all weak to Ice. Luckily, I had the free Manaphy and Jirachi.

One good thing about the remakes is that you don't have HM Slaves. Funny enough, Bibrael did basically all the HM stuff in the overworld outside of flying. lol

I'm pretty sure that's why they made Bibarel lol. He can use them all except Fly and Defog. That is one change in the newer games I do like. There was never really a good reason to have moves be necessary for the overworld like that.

Maybe they'll give Bibrael a Flying Type evolution in the future so it can do everything. XD

It only made sense to get rid of HM Slaves. Why would anyone want a dud Pokemon with no good moves or a wasted slot on all of their Pokemon?

I think it was just to make the games harder. But really it was just tedious. Back in the day I would teach the HMs to my starter Pokemon lol.

I usually gave one to each, but then again, I was younger when the games first came out. It never dawned upon me to load them up on a Pokemon I would later ditch. lol

Lmao in first gen I would roll out a Charizard with Cut, Fly, Strength, and Flamethrower.

In 1st Gen, my Venusaur definitely had Cut and Strength. Pidgeot had Fly. Raichu had to have Flash. I think Gyarados had Surf. Was there any more than that? lol

No, that was it in Gen 1. I hate Flash so much. At least the others can be decent enough moves in battle.

Yeah. Unless you spam Flash, it does nothing for you in battle. Especially when considering the opponent could just switch out and reset the stat decreases. lol

Yup. At least Strength and Surf and Waterfall later were actual good moves. And Fly is alright as a Dig copy. Stuff like Flash and Defog are just goofy. I'm glad they moved to unlimited TMs too. That was kind of a weird change to revert in BDSP.
