Serebii has updated some of the pokemon English names as well as two of the starters.
Turtwig - Naetoru
Chimchar - Hikozaru
Buneary - Mimiroru
Glameow - Nyaruma
Carnivine - Masukippa
Serebii says keep checking back for more info on the release of more US names.

Some of these names are not really hotter than the Japanese name.
I totally agree with you. Hikozaru rocks and its really great you can nickname your pokemon.
I have already started jotting down some names for some of the pokemon because it looks like to me in my opinion. None of those English names are going to rock at all.

I'm happy that Pochama kept it's name. It's my favorite English name at the moment. Pachirisu stayed the same too. I like it.

Serebii now says that there are a couple conflicting images for Pochama. 1 says it stays Pochama and a 2nd says it is Piplup. We have to stay tuned to see what it is.
Also the 10th movie is going to feature Dialga, Palkia, and Darkrai. Though Darkrai's purpose is not yet known.

I agree with you on keeping their Japanese names. The only English name that I like that even fits the respective pokemon is Mantyke.
