The schools are down over the bridge from your first homes, under salon and hobby shop. The elementary and high school are directly next to each other

You have to buy the 'promotions r us' store by the pet store

This isn't cheat but you can get lp and Simoleons.

Simoleons
- Make sure you have less than 3 houses. If you have more than that, it takes more time and more cost to build.

1. Build a Japanese retreat. If you have 3 houses, it will cost 25,000 Simoleons.

2. When it is completed, press it and press view house.

3. Sell everything in the house.
After that, press 'rooms' at the home store and make sure that you also sell empty rooms.
Each room costs almost 2000~6000 Simoleons.

By selling, you can get about 60,000 Simoleons(in my case, it was exactly 65,628 Simoleons) so eventually it's almost 40,000 Simoleons profit.

It's too much work for me but if you don't want to buy LP, I think it will help

There's a collection at every hobby and when you complete collection, you can get some present.
If you complete cooking collection, you will get cutting board and after that, every time you complete cooking collection, you can get 5 LP.
Cooking 'cheese and tomato toast' takes only 1 minute so if you let your sims cook(I left one sim in each hobby), you can complete collection easily.
But it's really annoying because you have to make your sims cook every minute and also clean all dishes.

I hope it will help you until someone find more useful cheats.

Instead of buying a new house try moving sims in together to free up a property you already own.Its slightly cheaper to add a sim and it has a 0 build time. you can remove rooms to change the house later, or buy an empty lot and add rooms. Its cheaper and you can worry about building a better home later when you have extra cash.
