Up until eighth grade in my school district 64% or less was an F, 65-69% was a D, 70-81% was a C, 82-91% is a D, and 92% or more was an A. In secondary school, 69% or lower became an F, 70-75% was a D, 76-84% was a C, 85-92% was a B, and 93% or more was an A. It may have become more relaxed since I left. However, I have never seen an A being less than 90% in any system.

In my school district, it has always been 59% or lower = F, 60-69% = D, 70-79% = C, 80-89% = B, and 90-100+% = A. It brakes up even more with minuses and pluses, but I didn't feel like listing them. I believe C (70-79%) is considered average, but in my district, a D will pass you. I'm just glad that the High School I went to didn't give you a credit unless you had a C or above.

In America, do you do exams in year 8&9? I know some people here that have to do exams in years 8-12, but at my school, you start exams in year 10.
