The 4th Gen remakes are set to release about a week or so from now. Somehow a number of people have gotten an early copy of it and have leaked basically everything about the game. They are practically the same as they were fifteen years ago outside of a few extra Legendary Pokemon encounters, which is a little disappointing. But I'm still going to get them as they were the reason that I started to love the franchise again.

One odd thing though... The game is 4.65 GB; however, they are releasing a Day 1 patch of an additional 3.35 GB. I'm not sure if that is to clean up bugs, but that seems like quite a lot to be for just that. Or am I wrong in assuming it could include more?

I'm still undecided. I'm not sure a straight port is really enough for me. The Day 1 patch might be replacing the files on the initial install so the install size after the patch is about the same as it is originally. Kinda big for a patch though.

If there are that many bugs to fix due to rushing it initially, that would be crazy.

I know a lot of fans are holding out hope that extra content is in the patch, but it's the Pokemon Company we're talking about. I'm not holding out hope.

It could just be them replacing textures and things, those files would be huge. I wouldn't think of the file size as indicative at all. Like they could fix 10 textures that are 100MB a piece or they could fix a thousand bugs in a few 10kb text files.

I wouldn't hold my breath for extra content. Honestly it's kinda unacceptable they don't have the Platinum content in there, though I guess they set that precedent by not remastering Emerald.

I heard they are giving Giratina a distortion room, yes room, in turnback cave. Should be fun to scale one wall or so with anti gravity. :/

I think most will agree they dropped the ball on this one. It was the one remake everyone has been yearning for, but all they are getting is basically the same thing. They could have done some crazy things, but no.

Well I heard they were having some mobile game studio do this game while Game Freak proper worked on Arceus, which I don't exactly have the highest hopes for either. So I'm not exactly surprised. It's just such a shame how stagnant the franchise has been for about 15 years now.

Compared to BD/SP, Arceus looks like a masterpiece. XD

Apparently, the Giratina encounter is the same in turnback cave. However, in the postgame, you will have a way to get its given orb item. In order to do so, you must actually battle a shadowed form of Giratina at Level 100. Unfortunately, you won't be able to capture it. Such a shame. Shadow Giratina would've been huge.

I didn't realize you guys were Pokemon fans, you wouldn't by any chance know any codes or tips for those two games that have just been released. I will need to cover them next week for SuperCheats, basically put a page together.

I don?t think there has been any codes for Pokemon Games since they moved to the Nintendo Switch. People just hack the games with custom software if they are going to editing.

Now, tips are another thing, but it all depends what you are looking for.

I've basically got to do a page of tips that would help beginners in the game. It doesn't have to be too complicated. How to get to places, how to unlock things, etc. that sort of thing, just useful information basically.

Honestly with how streamlined they've made the games these days it's pretty self-explanatory. But there are a few things. Warrior is probably a way better resource than me.

Nice items for grinding money are the Amulet Coin and Luck Incense. The amulet coin is in Hearthome City in Amity Square and you can get the Luck Incense later on at Route 204 (Ravaged Path) after you get Surf. Both of these are held items that double the amount of money you get from trainer battles if your Pokemon holding the item fights in the battle.

You can get a free Mew and Jirachi in game if you have save data from Let's Go Eevee or Pikachu and Sword or Shield, respectively. The NPCs that give them are in a field in the southwest of Floaroma Town.

In these remakes, the Exp Share is no longer an item and is instead a feature. So every Pokemon in your party will receive a cut of the Exp. Pokemon that fight in the battle get a larger share.

You can get a free egg (that hatches into a Happiny) from an NPC in Hearthome City.

After you get the National Dex, Bebe in Hearthome City will give you a level 1 Eevee.

There are a couple of trades you can make with NPCs too:

Trade a Machop for an Abra with a woman in an apartment building in Oreburgh City
Trade a Buizel for a Chatot with a boy in Eternia Condominiums
Trade a Medicham for a Haunter with a woman in the northwest of Snowpoint City
Trade a Finneon for a Magikarp in the house on route 226.

New in these games you can change your clothes, you can buy and swap outfits in the Metronome Style Shop in Veilstone City, I'm pretty sure this building replaces the Game Corner casino that was in the older games.

One thing to note is that these games have very few Fire types, so if you don't pick the Fire starter the only Fire type you have access to in the main game is Ponyta. This is actually wrong for the remakes, there is a new area called the Grand Underground that has wild Pokemon sort of like the Wild Area in Sword/Shield.

These games are remakes of the original Diamond and Pearl games on the DS, so most of the stuff from those will apply. Warrior will probably be along with some more obscure stuff. I think he wrote some of the guides on SuperCheats for older games.

No problem. The best thing to build off of is probably looking at the pages for the original games because 90% of it is going to be the same.

Going off of what Mike listed, here's what I would list Dennis since most are the same as the original:

How To Get The Mythical Pokemon Mew:
If you have a saved game file for Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee on your Nintendo Switch, you can obtain a gift Mew from the lady to the southwest of Floraroma Town.

How To Get The Mythical Pokemon Jirachi:
If you have a saved game file for Pokemon Sword/Shield on your Nintendo Switch, you can obtain a gift Jirachi from the same lady to the southwest of Floraroma Town.

How To Get The Mythical Pokemon Manaphy:
You can obtain a free Pokemon Egg as a Mystery Gift before Feburary 21st, 2021, and it will hatch into Manaphy. This Manaphy can be bred at the Pokemon Daycare to obtain the Legendary Pokemon Phione.

How To Obtain All 1st, 2nd & 3rd Generation Legendary Pokemon:
After defeating the main game, you will earn access to the Battle Area. In the original version of the games, this is where Pal Park was located. However, it has now become Ramanas Park, which can be accessed after obtaining the National Pokedex. Here, you can find all the Legendary Pokemon from the 1st (Kanto Region), 2nd (Johto Region) and 3rd (Hoenn Region). However, in order to do so, you must obtain a Legendary Pokemon's Slate from one of the sellers in Grand Underground. Below are what Pokemon you find with what slates at Ramanas Park...

Kanto Slate (Exclusive To Shining Pearl):
Articuno
Zapdos
Moltres

Genome Slate:
Mewtwo

Johto Slate (Exclusive To Brilliant Diamond):
Entei
Suicune
Raikou

Rainbow Slate (Exclusive To Brilliant Diamond):
Ho-Oh

Squall Slate (Exclusive To Shining Pearl):
Lugia

Discovery Slate:
Regice
Registeel
Regirock

Soul Slate:
Latias
Latios

Oceanic Slate:
Kyogre

Tectonic Slate:
Groudon

Stratospheric Slate:
Rayquaza

How To Change Giratina's Form:
In order to change the Legendary Pokemon Giratina into its Origin Form that was introduced in Pokemon Platinum, you must obtain the Griseous Orb. Unlike previous games, this is a little tricky to do. First off, you must complete the main game and obtain the National Pokedex so that you can gain access to Ramanas Park. From there, you must buy the Distortion Slate from an seller in the Grand Underground. However, you won't just obtain the Griseous Orb by inserting this slate at Ramanas Park. Instead, this will gain you access to the Distortion Room. Here, you can find and battle Shadow Giratina. You must defeat it in order to obtain the Griseous Orb.

Benefits From Partner Pokemon:
Like a few previous Pokemon Games, you can choose to have a Pokemon follow you outside of its Poke Ball. This will start earning your Pokemon extra benefits while in battle, and most older players are dubbing this as Easy Mode. These benefits include your Pokemon automatically being healed of status conditions in battle and hanging on from an attack with one hit point. The more you have your Pokemon follow you outside of their Poke Ball, the higher the odds of these benefits activating.

Gonna try. The town I live in now is rather small, so I do not know if they will have it stocked immediately. We shall see.

How about you?

I know it is the same games, but it was my fav. I also heard most said it was still a good game. I have to play for Nostalgia. Low expectations, clearly Arceus is where it will be at.

Mhmmmmm, maybe. I don't know. I know it's hardly ever going to go on sale. But I've got so many other games I want to play and I really don't like the art style, I like Diamond and Pearl but it's pretty solidly my 3rd or 4th favorite generation. I might just do a rerun of Platinum on an emulator where I can speed up level grinding a bit.

Thanks Warrior13, I appreciate yours and steelersrock01 help.

Just wondering, did either of you copy and paste those tips? If not I'll add them to SuperCheats as they are.

No copy and pasting from me. I did have to source the info specific to the new games from other sites/trailers cause the games didn't officially come out till today. But school drilled anti-plagiarism into me too hard to just copy and paste lol. It's all in my words.
