Fan Fiction Academy

Hello, ladies and gentlemen of the fan fiction community. My name is Bad Wolf, and I am one of the senior authors on this site. Upon examining the fan fiction works of some of our newer members, I've decided to take it upon myself to improve the skills of the future generation of writers. Shiny Zapdos has kindly volunteered to assist me with the running of this academy. I'll just lay down a few basic rules before we start

1. Usual spam/flame regulations apply
2. Try to remain on-topic at all times
3. Respect the other students and teachers
4. All students are required to leave their email address, so their teachers can contact them easily. Posts can be edited after a teacher has replied, so your details can be kept confidential
5. Please do not join if you are not regularly active

A list of the classes, along with a brief description, can be found below. Please state which classes you wish to sign up for.

1. Character Description 101: More Than Just Names
This class will teach you how to put more detail into character descriptions, including dialogue and actions.
2. Emotion for Beginners: Put More Feeling Into Your Writing
This class will be taught exclusively by Shiny Zapdos, and will help you to write more emotional fan fiction. This includes, but is not limited to, romance and death.
3. Evil or Crazy: The Guide to Writing Villains
This class will be taught by me, and will involve lessons in how to write more effective evil characters.
4. Vocabulary for Beginners: Word Choice Made Simple
This class will help you to use a larger variety of words in your fanfics.
5. International House of Cliche's: How You Know When You're Being Stereotyped
It's all too easy to resort to cliche's while writing fan fiction. This class wll help you to recognise the most overused cliches, and teach you to avoid them.

I will not post details as both you and Zap already have my email, although I would like if possible a bigger detail on the first class about descriptions?

Certainly. Basically, it involves ways of making your characters more descriptive. Would you rather read something boring and lacking description, or exciting and packed with detail? Exactly. The second one. The more descriptive you are, the more your readers will enjoy reading it.
