plus the time machine wouldn't be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands anyway because if someone went back in time to correct something it would have already happened so he wouldn't have had to go back

many mistakes could happen if someone made a mistake and goes back to fix it it could have side effects and yeah ....yuck not gonna happen

It's the Grandfather / Father Paradox. You go back in time and kill a parent or grandparent before you were born, thus preventing you from being born. But that, in turn, would prevent you from killing your parent, meaning you could go back in time and kill them. It's a never-ending sequence.
