Who do you begin the game with?

no they get added in eventually,i think its like when their cloned or evoloved

yeah, well you could use cloning, breeding, evolving, whatever...

chicorita is the worst choise, wild pokemon are all bug and bird, so its hard to train, sprout tower and the first gym are bug and bird also, so thats almost impossible, rockets are poison, so theres no type advantage there, and the second gym leader is all bug
and chicorita doesnt have any moves but razor leaf to counter mortys ghosts
is bad versus the steel gym and the ice and dragon gyms, and the pokemon is darn impossible for it too...

never knew there were so many aspects but it seems to me when u get totodile to feraligator it get downgraded like al its stats got lower so i dont normally choose totodile(is it true that if u keep starting ur game over before u get the starter pokemon u can get lucky and it will be a shiny totodil,cindiquil,ect.?)

(possibly,there's only about 3% chance though)

Totodile for me,before I leave the first gym,he's ALWAYS lvl 16,and he makes the gym leader look like an idiot,lol.

i prefer cyndaquil cause then it can beat sprout tower easy and the first trainers

well i suppose all the starters are bad verses one of the first three gyms
chicorita is bad versus the first gym (pigeottos gust is supereffective)
totedile is bad versus the second gym (sythers move {cant remeber the name} is supereffecitve)
cyndaquil is bad versus the third gym (miltanks roll out is supereffective)

Chikorita is also bad against the second gym. Bug moves are Grass Pok�mons weaknesses.

In most of the Johto gyms Chikorita isn't very useful.

grass pokemon are only good in kanto, thats why bulbasaur was a first choice for many...

for kanto i prefer bulbasaur but for johto i prefer cyndaquil cause even though its hard to beat whitney you can still beat her

I like Bulbasaur the best in Kanto too. I usually get a Drowzee and trade it with a man called Mike in the Goldenrod City Dept Store (can't remember what floor he's on) for a Machop. When I get Machoke I trade between the two versions for Machamp.
Anyway get Machop to beat Whitney easily.

i like to train one pokemon at a time, so my totedile is usually a decent enough level to beat the syther of bugsy's anyways...

yeah but using cyndaquil means that you can get him on a higher level quicker because he faces all the grass and bug types first so gets higher to beat whitney.
i have tried totodile and chikorita and i think they are rubbish at the beginnin

you obviously arent very good with them then, my first time playing pokemon was with totedile, and i got through the game fine, and ive used him ever since...

Cydaquil.

Cyndaquil by far. But i had like so much trouble with Whitney with a lvl 16 Quilava. It learned Flame Wheel and i finally sweeped the gym ez.

Yeah, I did too. Rollout was super effective. That's why I used a Geodude...
