Old teams and clans was my favorite place for the few months I had before the new Teams section opened. My first real socializing on the internet with people I didn't know IRL.

I arrived after the new Team and Clans. Still was the best part of site for me back then.

I could never get into the new Teams even if they were objectively better. Back then there was a rule that threads could only have 200 pages so tons of people were on version 4 or 5 of their team lol. Good times.

It's still crazy to see names that I once chatted with 14 years ago. At the same time, after conceptualizing the situation and my actions here, I can also understand why people thought I was annoying. I would have thought I was annoying if the shoes were on the other foot. But then again I was a cringe 13/14 year old back in 07/08.
It's also insane to think you could go to "Latest Posts" and see all 25 pages completely full of posts from that single day. Nowadays you see posts on page 25 as far back as APRIL 2019!????

Oh definitely. Way better to be on a forum, even a pretty big one like this one was in its day, than to be on real social media with your name and picture attached. There are people out there that will save things you post for 10+ years and then try to ruin your life with it.

SC has always had primarily chill peeps anyway. I doubt anyone would've care to save trash posts from a bunch of teenagers even if our names and photos were included.

Really not much worth saving lol. Sometimes I do think about the graphics & arts forums and some of the people there that made dozens or hundreds of signatures and avatars. People hosted a ton of images on Photobucket and Tinypic, both of which either shut down or are no longer free. I wonder if people bothered saving that kind of stuff and went on to do graphics professionally. Or the people that wrote stories in FF&RP, some of that stuff was pretty good.

I made sure to save anything anyone made for me. Lost it all when tinypic shut down, but I used website archives to retrieve.

I've got my current sig and avy saved, and I've got a Wario signature but not the corresponding avatar. Unfortunately I've got absolutely zero idea who made it and don't have the energy to go back and look. I'm sure whoever did it isn't too bothered.

Yeah lol. I dabbled in it myself for a while but have nothing of it saved. It's kind of crazy how making forum signatures was a whole subculture from like 2005 - 2011, there were all kinds of tutorials on making so many different styles in GIMP and Photoshop, and then like overnight that entire scene just kinda died off. Kinda like forums themselves I guess, but there are still some forums going strong - IGN, GameFAQS, NeoGaf, and 4chan, and some others are still massively popular.
