Mike - Stunning to hear that SF have given away two 1st round picks & a 3rd round pick, for the 5th best QB in the draft. From what I've heard, he is one of those boom or bust prospects; like Haskins was. If they actually do this, and he busts, they're a screwed franchise.
Warrior - I forgot about Pitts. TE isn't really a need given that Gesicki is making good progress, but they would be a crazy duo to have for the next 8+ years. It seems you were right about Pitts, cause his stocks are rising and he's certain to be a top 10 pick.

Smokescreen Matt, the 49rs aren't interested in Mac Jones. They didn't need to give up all that capital to get him. I personally think they are hoping the Jets stick with Darnold so they can pick up Zac Wilson or if he is already gone Trey Lance or Justin Fields. Mac Jones is one dimensional, he can't move around the pocket which could be a problem for Shanahan and his offense
Wilson is probably a bit higher than Fields on most draft boards, but I don't think Fields is much of a downgrade at all. If they get either then they've done well.
Has Lance moved up too? Last time I did extensive research about 1-2 months ago, Lance was the clear 4th best QB, and not that close to Wilson and Fields.

It's has been a crazy month, Matt. It was Lawrence/Wilson/Fields then Lawrence/Wilson/Lance and now Lawrence/Wilson/Jones. I personally like Fields behind Lawrence and Wilson, but some apparently like Lance and even Jones (eww) more.
I think all 5 of the top QBs have a shot at being great, but I personally have Lawrence/Wilson as the clear top 2, with Fields as #3 and then Jones and Lance beneath him. From what I've seen of Lance he seems the least NFL-ready, but it's hard to tell from college stats and Pro days throwing against air. You have to take into account the talent they played with and who they were facing.
The way I understand it is Fields, Jones, and Wilson are NFL ready but Lance needs some work but has the higher ceiling. I think Field will fall to mid first round or lower like Lamar Jackson did a few years back. I wouldn?t? be surprised if the Bears or Broncos nabbed Fields if he did fall. To be honest I?m wondering if it?s safer taking the best talent available than gambling with a quarterback. Chase, Pitts, and Sewell look like NFL superstars already without playing a down, like Chase Young was last year.
Dennis - Your comments in the other thread worry me. They are similar to the rumours which caused Dwayne Haskins' stocks to plummet. You've got to wonder what SF will do with pick 3. I'm fairly sure NY Jets will select Wilson (if they don't trade for Watson), so will SF go with Fields? To me he doesn't fit their system unless they make changes. Shanahan has coached Matt Ryan and Jimmy Garoppolo, who are both traditional pocket passers. Lance at #3 would be a reach, and Jones at #3 would be suicidal. The more I think about it, the worse and worse this trade looks for SF. They would've been far better off trading up to the picks 7-10 area. Detroit would've been a good trade partner.
Look out for a team to trade with Detroit to get ahead of Carolina. Or even for Carolina to trade with Detroit or Miami in order to stop another team from jumping ahead. I still think there's 1 more big trade left.

Dennis: Pretty sure the Top 5 QBs will all be going Top 12.
Matt: Yeah, Miami is in a good spot to trade back again, gain more future picks, and still get at Top Prospect. We might lose out on Chase and Pitts, but Smith/Waddle aren't that much of a drop off.
Who else can't wait for the ridiculous questions these guys get asked at their media availability? Stuff like "Do you find your mother attractive?" and "What kind of fish are you?" And then we can speculate wildly about what their answers mean for their draft stock.
Mike - That's right, I remember all the weird stuff now. I think last year (and other years) they asked players whether their mother was a whore, and whether they were gay, IIRC.
But fish? What does that question even mean? So if you say clownfish you're a locker room cancer, if you say shark you're violent and aggressive, & if you say surgeonfish you should've studied medicine at university?

Only two days of Pro Days left, and then we'll be heading straight to the draft. I'm really just looking at Texas Tech and Houston. I'm pretty sure WR TJ Vasher is a freak of nature, but I want the number to prove it. I know he has character concerns that might drop him in the draft, but he could be a steal if a team could line him out. And then there is WR Steveson for the Cougars - Just how fast is he?
In other news, Houston Police are now investigating Watson after an accusation was submitted to them. This was not done by any of the women filing civil suits or by the lawyer doing those, so this could be very interesting.
It will probably be best if I do my first April mock after the Pro Days. I'm surprised to see that Chase is now seen as the clear #1 WR in the draft, given that he opted out of the 2020/21 college season. If so, it seems fairly clear that Miami traded back up to #6 in order to get him.

Did you see Chase's Pro Day Numbers? Dude is a beast. Clearly WR1 in this draft. Smith hurt himself by not running and weighing for teams. Waddle is still recovering from injury so he couldn't run, but everyone knows he is the most dynamic playmaker in the draft (but small as well).
I think Miami will have a lot of options. At worst, they will get either Chase, Pitts or Sewell. They might be able to fall back to #8 or #9 and still get one of those guys depending how many QBs go off the board in the Top 8-9. If Miami slips down to #8 and five QBs go in the Top 7, they will still get one of their three guys. If they fall down to #9, it gets a little more iffy about that (though guarantee to still have at least Smith or Waddle on the board).
I'm a big fan of team chemistry, and I'd love it if we could get Devonta Smith to come in and play with Tua again. Last draft I wanted us to get Jerry Jeudy if possible, for the same reason. If like you say we manage to trade down again a few spots, we could get Smith plus an extra pick.
I've read a few mocks, and have a fairly good idea of what my first 20 picks will look like. The challenge will be picks 21-32, as always.

As long as we get Chase, Waddle, Smith, Pitts or Sewell, I will be fine no matter when our first pick is.
That is usually the case. Edge Rushers seem to be slipping a bit, but I do not really know why since all the top ones killed their pro days. Maybe because high bust potential for all of them?
