Haven't done my picks for next week yet. The NFL has been so crazy this year. Every single contender has had at least one stinker of a game.

Compared to previous years this year has had more upsets, there seems to be three or four a week that makes me scratch my head and say what happened there. I guess that's what makes the game so exciting, on any given Sunday almost any team can win.

Buccaneers back on track beating the Giants on Monday night football.

That game was extremely rough to watch. Both teams were horrible.

Tough loss, Mike. I almost went with the Lions, but I reconsidered after the Nagy release rumors.

Dallas vs the Raiders was a great game. That's two straight the Cowboys have dropped. Washington now have a game in hand and play Dallas twice. If they win all those games the division is up for grabs. Washington play Seattle Sunday. There's also Philadelphia in the mix who are vastly improving.

Dallas looked beatable yesterday, granted, if Ceedee Lamb was playing they probably would have won that game. The Cowboys are different to Washington in that they have a good starting lineup wheras Washington has better backups. At the end of the season when players are banged up it's those backups that come to the forefront.

Detroit vs Chicago and Buffalo vs NO were some really bad games. I could only catch a chunk of the Cowboys but it seems like penalties doomed them. I knew picking Detroit was a mistake but I can't shake the feeling they're due for a win.

There were way too many penalties in the Cowboys/Raiders game, ruined all flow. The Cowboys should have won as the last pass interference call was bogus. Just because the CB did not turn his head does not mean he interferes with the WR; the ball was horribly short and the CB did not initiate the contact whatsoever.

The Dolphins claimed Phillip Lindsay off waivers from the Texans. I have no idea what why the Broncos let him go, even more so why he chose to ruin his season by signing with the crummy Texans, but he could be a huge score if the Phins get the 1k rusher he was just a year ago.

It really seems like the best way to drive down the field late in the game is to send receivers deep and then throw the pass short.

I find it to be b***s***. It's ruining the game. Defenders already have the rules stacked against them; they don't need QBs intentionally throwing the ball short so that the WRs, who have the advantage of tracking the ball, stopping on a dime to ensure contact happens. In no way am I justifying CBs not turning their head around -- it's not hard to do so, if you trust your speed, after the WR does his break, and it would see far more easy picks -- but the NFL cannot allow this to become a thing.

I'm surprised we don't see more long balls when you consider there is a good chance an interferring call could get blown if there is contact which results in spotting the ball at the place of contact. It's getting almost impossible to cover recievers in the NFL. The NFL needs to bring in some kind of rule to balance the books otherwise you are going to see teams playing for the penalty call like you see soccer players dive in the penalty area for the penalty kick.

I think we see a ton of hail mary throws at the end of the half/near the end of the game. There definitely needs to be some kind of rule change to help defenders just a bit. I know the league likes the offense because people like high scoring games, but it's getting a bit much. I know a few years ago they tried reviewing PI or challenging it or something and they literally never overturned it.

They need to find some sort of compromise. In the college game DPI is a 15 yard penalty if the contact is 15 or more yards downfield. If it's less than 15 yards from scrimmage the ball's placed at the spot of contact. There are issues with that, you could have defenders just completely taking the WR out of the play, but there needs to be a change so we aren't seeing these 40-60 yard penalties every single time a team needs to drive down the field with 2 minutes left.

Absolutely agree with you steelersrock01, something needs to be done to balance the confrontation between recievers and the secondary. I get the NFL wants to promote a high scoring game but they need to find rules that even things out, it was bad enough when they brought in the Mel Blount rule so recievers could develop timing plays without being touched.

On a similar note the league needs to do something about these designed QB run plays where the QB gets an extra few yards on the slide every time because the defense is afraid to touch him. If it's a designed run the QB should be treated like an RB. They just don't want the stars hurt. Same with the awful roughing the passer penalties where the 300 pound defender running full speed is supposed to somehow stop on a dime and not touch the QB.

Yes, two valid points, this is why I like 70s and 80s NFL, it was how the game was supposed to be played.

It should be that once the quarteback has the ball he should be treated like any other ball carrier and brought down immediately. What has happened is the same thing with defensive backs and recievers, the defense is too scared to touch them and the offense is taking advantage knowing that.

Yup especially with QB scrambling to the sidelines. He gets to run on the edge of the field and can reach out for the first down and can step out of bounds in a split second, and if the defender touches him at any point it's an automatic penalty. I like watching offense but I think they really need to reevaluate some stuff. I know it's never going to happen though. Every super marketed star is on offense.

If lots of games get ruined with the offense abusing the rules the NFL will have to review them. If the game today was played like it was in the 70s and 80s the quarterbacks and recievers wouldn't have the stats they have now and running back would be more of an important position.

Yeah, QBs have so many privileges these days. Main reason why Brady thinks he can play until 55-60.

This is another week of really tough games. It feels like every single one of these games could go either way.

I know what you mean. Cowboys, Texans, and Rams screwed me hard.

If Cowboys lose against the Saints on Thursday, a game both of them need, the Eagles could win and be only a game back. That's shocking considering the lead the Cowboys have had for a month now.

Texans up 14-3 to the Jets at home, and they lose 21-14. I know the Texans are crud, but the Jets are just as bad and were on the road. They are a veteran team that should've won that one.

Rams are starting to spiral out of control like the Cowboys. They looked like the Super Bowl favorites after crushing the Bucs a month ago, and now they look like a Wild Card team at best. Stafford looks like a Lion once again, and that defense full of stars is giving up so many points. They needed that game bad after their recent losses, and the Vikings gave them the formula to do so. I doubt they catch the Cardinals, but that's the least of their worries at this point. How in the world are they going to beat the Packers, Cardinals, or Bucs on the road in the playoffs playing like they are?
