Yeah, and I'm not entirely sure the Texans move on from Mills so quickly. He really wasn't terrible, was pretty clearly the second best rookie behind Mac Jones.
I see talent in Mills, but a new coach in Houston (we are now up to the usual eight firings) will probably see them drafting a QB.
If they want the best QB in the draft, they would get Pickett. However, there are a few QB more like Watson that they can get in the middle of the first or even the second.
I only realised half way through the season that David Mills was a rookie QB. To begin with I thought he was a generic journeyman who had been on several teams. He looks like a capable backup QB, but probably not long-term starter material. Houston should either draft a QB, or bait someone into trading up.

Speaking of Detroit, they should also try and bait teams into jumping ahead of Houston. Jared Goff is definitely good enough to be a starter, and it would give Detroit a range of picks. To me they feel like a 7-12 team with a 3-13-1 record, and they didn't even try and tank. The NFC North could become a strong division next season, since Minnesota, Chicago & Detroit all have potential to improve.
There have been recent articles talking about the Flores-Tua relationship. It seems convincing. Basically it said: - Flores wanted to draft Tua. If he had wanted to draft Herbert they would've - Flores didn't like Tua's work ethic. He wanted him to stay back later on some training days, and didn't like him going golfing occasionally in the offseason - Flores got impatient and benched him for Fitz without any hesitation - Flores wanted to trade for Watson - Flores apparently told Tua he wished he had drafted Mac Jones - After Thanksgiving, Flores stopped communicating with his assistant coaches
I hope it isn't true, but it makes sense. Also the players seemed supportive of Flores, and the article says he only stopped communicating with the assistant coaches; not the players.

I've never heard he wanted Tua. All the reports that I have seen said he wanted Herbert and Grier wanted Tua. The owner wanted to tank for the best guy, which would turn out to be Burrow (which he wanted as the draft approached).
I also never heard anything about Tua's work ethic. I read a report that he worked so hard that Flores had him PED tested more than other players.
The rest, though, I have heard, as well as an F Bomb laced tirade toward Tua during halftime against the Titans.
If true, it was probably best they moved on from him. He was a good coach, but if you clash with the players you need most, then it likely won't work out. I'm still crossing my fingers for Jim Harbaugh; he would be a good fit for Tua imo.
Everyone was also lucky, Raiders got within 3 yards of potentially leveling the game and sending it to overtime where anything could have happened. Burrow to Chase is the new Montana to Rice.
Not surprised Cin/LV was a close game, but I have to say I expected this game to be a lot closer. Rare for Bellichick teams to get blown out like this even if the roster probably overachieved to get to this point in the first place.
In fact I'm not sure a BB team has ever been blown out like this. Bills scored 7 touchdowns on 7 drives, the only drives they didn't score a TD on were closing out the half with 1 second and kneeling to end the game. Just complete domination.

I had a feeling it was going to be a blowout. Basically gonna be zero degrees for the entire game, so I knew the Bills would load the box all night long to make Jones beat them. No way they were going to let the Pats run all over them like the first time they played this year.
But with that said, I did not see pretty much a five spot coming. I thought like 30-10 or 28-3.
Do you think this makes the Bills serious contenders for the AFC? I've thought the Chiefs have basically had it locked up despite the Titans having the #1 seed. But now I can see any of the 3 winning out. I don't think the Bengals have a real shot but they had some games this year where they really put it together.
So happy for the primetime/playoff Bungles to finally get their first playoffs win in 84 years. Especially after going 0-8 in playoff games under Lewis. The game got close and Cincy nearly choked it, but the defense came up with the goods.
Also great to see New England get destroyed. They are frauds. How did they make playoffs? When you get swept by Miami, there is an issue. Mac Jones is also ridiculously overrated.
Mike - I'm not convinced with Buffalo, but then again the AFC is pretty mediocre. I can see Tennessee being one and done, and Cincy scraped past the overrated Raiders at home. Kansas City are also worse than last season.

I'd hesitate to call the Pats "frauds", there's clearly a good base there for them to build on. But I do think they overperformed this year. And a bunch of teams in the AFC underperformed - I think I had the Chargers, Browns, Ravens, Colts, and maybe the Dolphins all finishing ahead of them and all of them either dealt with injuries or just didn't play up to their potential.
I'm not sure about the Bills as well. They have had a roller coaster season, and they could easily have a low in the next few weeks.
I don't know if the Patriots are fraud, but they are definitely limited at QB. As Cousins and others have shown, teams don't really go far without a great QB.
I mean sure, but Mac Jones is a rookie with plenty of time to develop. We can't just write him off with Cousins as his ceiling and in the same breath talk about Tua as a "potential franchise guy" that just needs time.
Their stats are almost identical this year on a per game basis, and Tua had the benefit of seeing at least some action last year.

I would take Tua in a heartbeat over Jones, and I am not saying that just because I am a Phins fan. Both are finite, but one was a five star recruit for a reason.
Looks like Dennis can make this a three way tie with a 49ers win.
